Prescriptions
Repeat Prescriptions
If you need medication regularly, you can use our repeat prescription service. Your doctor may approve certain medicines for repeat orders. You will get a tear-off slip with your prescription that shows what you can reorder.
You can order more medication by:
- Bringing in or posting your tear-off slip with the items you need ticked.
Important Information:
- Please allow 48 hours for your prescription to be ready or posted back (if you provide a stamped addressed envelope).
- You can also request repeat prescriptions online or email us at ppcc@nhs.net.
If you want to register for online access, visit the Surgery with proof of ID (like a passport or driving licence) to get your login details.
This makes reordering your medicine simple and easy!
Medication Reviews
If you need a prescription for something that isn’t part of your repeat medication, you’ll need to book an appointment with a doctor. Only they can approve this.
If you’re on repeat medication, your doctor/clinical team will review it from time to time to make sure it’s still needed, working well, and not causing any problems.
Prescription Fees
Help with NHS costs
In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:
- those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
- those who are age exempt
- those with certain medical conditions
- More information is available at NHS Choices
NHS Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
- Prescription (per item): £9.65
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
- 3-month PPC: £31.25
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
