Repeat Prescriptions

If you take medication on a long term basis this may be provided through our computerised repeat prescription service. If an item is authorised by the doctor for a limited number of repeats you will receive a tear-off slip with your prescription. You may order your repeats by either dropping in or posting your tear off slip having ticked those items which you require.

Please allow 48 hours for repeat prescriptions to be ready for collection or posted back to you in an SAE.

You may register for Online Repeat Prescription request or alternatively email us your request to ppcc@nhs.net

Patients registered for online access can request repeat prescriptions via the link at the top of this page.

Note: If you need logging details please come to the surgery and we need proof of ID e.g. (Passport/Driving Licence) in order to issue you registration details.

Medication Reviews

If you need a further prescription for an item which is not on the repeat service please make an appointment to discuss this with a doctor as only they can authorise such prescriptions. All patients on repeat medication will need periodic review by the doctor to check that the medication is still necessary, effective and not causing unwanted side effects.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
