Travel Advice

A travel advice service is offered through the practice nurse. Ideally you should make an appointment to see her 6 weeks prior to travel to decide which travel vaccines or antimalarial medication may be needed. All travel vaccines require14 days to take effect and antimalarials also need to be started before you leave the country. We do not have facilities for yellow fever vaccination which can only be given at specialist centres. Some antimalarial tablets are available over the counter at a chemist, but some require a private prescription. Travel advice and immunisations are also available at The Travel Clinic at Mortimer Market Centre, Mortimer Market (off Capper Street), London WC1E 6AU. For an appointment call: 020 7388 9600 or for general travel advice call the Travel Health Line on 09061 337733. Also the Royal Free Hospital has a Travel Health Centre Tel: 020 7830 2885. UK residents travelling within the European Union are advised to apply for a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) via www.ehic.org.uk or telephone 0845 606 2030.
